Vienna Circle: Interdisciplinary Approach on Human Cognition

The historic background of our study goes back to Vienna Circle where historically eminent scholars were gathered around to discuss the methodology on how to unify diverse disciplines of modern science. It was the most significant interdisciplinary movement where scholars and scientists from different fields worked together in effort to find a unified approach to ‘knowledge’.

Shortly after the outbreak of World War II, number of scientists from that group emigrated to U.S. and continued their scientific pursue on epistemology at the Institute of Advanced Study. It is where Dr. Han, Tae-dong researched under Kurt Gödel and other prominent philosophers and scientists and advanced his study on ‘cognition structure’ of historical figures.

Dr. Jin Hoon An first developed the idea of cognitive orientation of human brain shortly after he received his doctoral degree in religious ethics in Yonsei University. Largely influenced by his professor & mentor, Dr. Han, he initiated his research on cognitive analysis on historical philosophers in effort to categorize and apply the analytic structure to modern cognitive neuroscience.

After the initial development of his left-right brain cognitive process and tendency model, continuous effort was made to validate and improve the model. After more than 10,000 individuals were being studied, the first Cognitive Orientation & Behavioral Index model was born. à Click here to learn more about ‘COBI’
